Founded the firm after serving as National Director of State and Local Taxation for a major international accounting firm. Mr. Gelber has over thirty years' experience in the field of multi-state taxation and has served as advisor to many national trade and industry associations. He has worked closely with various state and local taxing authorities in formulating industry-wide state tax regulations, and obtaining rulings on major multi-state issues. Arthur has been appointed by the Governor of New Jersey to its Sales & Use Tax Review Commission, has lectured at New York University and before numerous professional groups, and is the author of a text on New York State taxes as well as many articles on multi-state tax issues.
Mr. Lerario is a Certified Public Accountant with over twenty-five years of financial and tax experience. Prior to joining The Gelber Organization, Joe was with a major international accounting firm, and subsequently served as a Chief Financial Officer in several industries, including graphic arts, textiles and communications. He has been responsible for conducting state and local tax audits and overseeing compliance for jurisdictions throughout the United States.
Mr. Sciortino is a former Director of the Corporation Tax Audit Bureau for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. During his 34-year career with the Department, he held a variety of positions, including: Midwestern Regional Administrator of the Chicago and Los Angeles Offices, District Audit Manager of the Syracuse and New York offices, and the Director of the Central Office Audit Bureau in Albany.
Mr. Thiel's distinguished career includes 34 years with the State of New Jersey before leaving as its Deputy Director of the Audit Section of the Division of Taxation. Before joining THE GELBER ORGANIZATION as its Vice President, Tax Services, Joe also served as a Director for PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Joe is a frequent speaker before such professional tax associations as the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT), as well as numerous industry and state-sponsored panels on Sales and Use Tax issues.
As Vice President, Client Development for The Gelber Organization, Mr. Forte's primary responsibilities include managing and promoting the sales effort and staff, presenting alternative tax strategies and coordinating client relations. Prior to joining The Gelber Organization, Mr. Forte spent 4 years marketing and developing a regional sales tax refund boutique firm. Mr. Forte's client base includes many of the largest companies in the Retail, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Hotel & Gaming, Food Service and Financial industries. Mr. Forte is certified by the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University in the Sales Force Performance Program. Dennis has a B.A. from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA.
Prior to joining THE GELBER ORGANIZATION, Scott was a supervising Senior at KPMG and Supervising Auditor for the State of New Jersey's Division of Taxation. He earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from The College of William and Mary and is a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He has represented several Fortune 100 companies managing state and local audits and developing nationwide sales tax matrices for clients.
